Please follow the instructions below to activate and self-register your computer with the Seneca College ResNet network. You must complete this process from your own Seneca Residence room.

Configure your computer to obtain an IP address automatically through DHCP (Network Setup). Connect your computer to the jack on the wall with a RJ45 straight thru cable [Figure 1] to obtain an IP address and access the network. |

Note: Network cable connectors (RJ45) are bigger than phone cable connectors (RJ11). In order to access the Internet your cable must be a straight thru cable. If you are not sure what kind of cable you have, please contact the Student Help Desk.

After you are connected to the network, double-click on the icon for the Internet browsers that you commonly use (e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Netscape).

The Welcome to Seneca Residence Network (ResNet) screen will appear. If the welcome screen does not appear, type: http://resnet.senecac.on.ca in your browser and press enter. On the left side of the screen are the steps that you have to follow [Figure 2]. Click on Next to continue. [Figure 3]

You will see the Seneca IT Acceptable Use Policy screen. [Figure 4]

Read the Acceptable Use Policy then check the box next to the statement that says I have read and agree to abide by the IT Acceptable use Policy. Click Next to continue. [Figure 5]

Note: You will not be able to proceed to the next screen if you do not agree to abide by the ITAUP policy.

The ResNet Protocol screen then appears. [Figure 6]

After reading the ResNet protocol check the box next to the statement: I have read and agree to abide by the ResNet Protocol. Click on Next to continue. [Figure 7]

Note: You will not be able to proceed to the next screen if you did not check the box where you have to agree to abide by the ResNet Protocol.

You will see the screen where you have to enter your My.Seneca (LEARN) username and password to login. [Figure 8]

Note: If you have not activated your account, please read the section which says New Student? to activate it. If you experience problems with activating your account or you forgot your password, please contact the Student Help Desk.

Enter your My.Seneca (LEARN) username and password and press Login. [Figure 9]

On the Information screen, your name, your MAC address and other room information (room number, campus and the Jack Number) will appear. This information is necessary to complete and activate your Internet connection. Verify the information and click Next to continue. [Figure 10]

If this is the first time you are registering on ResNet, a screen will appear indicating: There are no previous Registrations to be deleted.
Click Next to continue. [Figure 11]
Note: If you are moving from one room to another or have changed the computer/network card, a screen will display indicating that your previous registration information will be deleted. [Figure 11a]

Review and confirm your transaction information and your Residence room information. Click Submit to register your computer. [Figure 12]

Congratulations! Now you have successfully registered your computer so that you can access the ResNet network. Please allow 10 to 15 minutes for the registration process to complete. [Figure 13]
